The International Federation for Emergency Medicine, founded in 1991, is an international association composed of national emergency medicine organizations. IFEM represents a coordinating consortium of these organizations, involving over 60 countries.
The mission of the IFEM is to promote at an international level interchange, understanding and cooperation among physicians practicing emergency medicine. Its Charter is founded on every citizen’s right to receive emergency care by trained emergency physicians. One of its most important functions is to help other countries develop emergency medical care, systems, and training programmes. It aims to be recognized as the international voice for quality emergency medical care.
